Hijama For Hair Loss & Hair Growth

We are going to discuss a treatment method for hair loss that has been used from ancient times for several ailments and it’s an ancient Greek treatment that has been practiced for centuries.

It’s called Hijama and it’s a very successful treatment method for several types of disorders. In the present time, this treatment method is called Cupping therapy in which an airtight cup is used for treatment. Normally we see that when a person is sick and being treated he is supplied blood but in Hijama therapy we remove blood to treat the patient.

By Hijama therapy we can treat many disorders like Migraine, Back pain, Joint pain, slipped discs, etc. Apart from this Hijama therapy we can also treat hair loss and help the regrowth of lost hair. This is a method in which you can see the results in a very short time.

In Hijama therapy we do not require any medicine. Most people are still not aware of this century-old treatment method. Now in many parts of the world, Greek medicine training is being provided and most of the doctors practicing it find it a very effective treatment.

Even the Indian government and Ayush ministry have started new research in Hijama therapy to make it available to common people in India.

As we notice, most of the diseases are caused by bad or dirty blood. In Hijama therapy we remove this bad blood from the body to heal the body.

Hijama For Hair Loss & Hair Growth

Hijama therapy is one of the most successful therapies to treat hair loss and it’s a very easy and affordable treatment option. It doesn’t cost a lot like a Hair transplant which is still a very costly treatment method and has its own risks.

To perform Hijama therapy, first, the patient has to shave the hair. And if the patient is already bald or has little hair left he doesn’t need to cut the hair. But patients who have hair but face regular hair loss need to shave their head. Shaving is required because the airtight cups need to stick to the scalp. This cup is made of very hard plastic or Glass and is attached to an airgun which is pulled to stick it to the scalp.

The cups are placed on those places where you have lost hair. In Cupping therapy maximum 5 cups are attached to the head at a time. After attaching the cups for the first time they are taken off after a while. You can notice the marks of the cups on the scalp. After removing the cups the therapist will make small cuts on the scalp where the cups were placed. After that, the cups are attached again and made airtightly.

Now the therapist will leave the cups in place for several minutes. You can see blood accumulating in the cups. You don’t need to worry about the blood as this is just the dirty or bad blood that is being pulled out. The main reason for hair loss is DHT and it also destroys hair follicles.

By cupping therapy we get rid of the bad blood along with DHT and it controls the amount of DHT in the blood. One the DHT has been controlled hair follicles start to regrow and you can notice new hairs as well as it stops hair loss.

Cupping therapy acts to trigger the hair follicles by stimulating the blood flow of the scalp. It delivers good nutrition for hair roots, increases the movement of the sweat glands, and opens the pores of the skin. Cupping therapy not only removes the bad blood from the skin but also removes harmful elements absorbed underneath the surface of the skin. It stimulates, therefore, the process of hair growth.

If you are suffering from hair loss or if you are already bald then you must try this therapy.

Male pattern baldness is one of the most common forms of hair loss that happens in men. It is also known as genetic hair loss or alopecia androgenic. Hair loss normally happens slowly; usually they start to notice a bald spot on the crown of the scalp. Depending on the individual’s health, many start to see thinning of the hair around the temple area as they reach their thirties. Your hair goes through different phases; your hair growth cycle normally lasts for two to three years, it grows approximately 1cm every month.  Your hair grows and then rests for a couple of months and then falls out, after a couple of days new hair starts to grow in its position. It is normal to shed some hair every day but if a person starts to see excessive hair loss then it is a sign of male pattern baldness. – Hijama For Hair Loss

There are so many reasons why excessive hair loss takes place in both men and women. For example, a person may be ill for a couple of months or it can be someone who came out from surgery, or if the person is stressed out, they may see a large amount of hair loss. It can be related to the thyroid gland being overactive or underactive, or female and male hormone deficiency. Many women notice hair loss for a few months after they’ve had a baby because of the change in hormone levels. Some medicines also cause hair loss such as blood thinners also known as anticoagulants, steroids, birth control pills, high blood pressure or heart problems, etc. There are certain infections such as fungal infections that can affect the scalp and follicles to cause hair loss. Certain hairstyles can also cause hair loss such as pigtails, cornrows, or tight hair rollers, the pull on your hair can cause traction alopecia. The traction causes the hair follicle to become wounded and damaged permanently if not treated at an early stage.

Research shows us that men who suffer from male pattern baldness; have a high rate of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in their follicles. They believe that DHT is one of the main causes of hair loss.  However, scientists still do not understand its relationship with hair loss. They do not know why it only occurs at the top of the head and why the sides and back are immune to it? They also found that a lot of people do not take care of their hair, which leads to building up dirt and oil that clogs up the follicle making it harder for the hair to grow back. In time the hair grows thinner and thinner until it completely stops growing and the follicle closes permanently. – Hijama For Hair Loss

Can you prevent male pattern baldness? No, you cannot, but you can slow it down. Science recently discovered a possible cure for hair loss. They have been working with stem cells for years, until recently a fluke discovery was made. The experiment was performed on a wounded mouse. They saw new hair follicles started to grow in the injured area. This is exciting news for every hair loss sufferers but experiments are still going through tests and studies. While science is slowly catching up, people have alternative medicines to help slow down hair loss. The only two drugs that are FDA approved and shown to help slow down hair loss are Finasteride (Propecia) and Minoxidil (Regaine). Finasteride stops DHT being formed, in theory, stops hair loss. However with every drug there are some side effects, many people reported their sex drive was low, some even reported they lost the ability to have an erection.  Minoxidil is applied on the scalp; this helps it to circulate blood to the follicles thus having healthy hair growth. However, with minoxidil, only a low percentage of people saw good results.

The purpose of Hijama on the scalp is to use the suction to open up the hair follicles and promote blood circulation to help maintain the hair, while getting rid of toxins and DHT that build up underneath the scalp.

So, before cupping therapy happens, a deep tissue massage takes place on the scalp and then cupping is placed on the scalp with suction so that a vacuum is created. This is left on for a few minutes, and is known as dry cupping, and then it is removed by releasing the pressure. Light incisions on the scalp are created using a blade and then the cup is placed back on the same area and suction is applied to create a vacuum again. This is where all the bad blood including chemicals and toxins like DHT are suctioned out. The dark red blood is coagulated into a jelly-like substance and is discarded. This process can then be repeated to other areas on the scalp 2-3 times.

Now that you have an idea of how Hijama therapy works, let’s take a look at a clip to see exactly how it is done.  – Hijama For Hair Loss

This guy is from India and came to a clinic to get Hijama therapy to treat male pattern baldness. We can see he is thinning on the temples and the crown region and seems to be showing us his concern for hair loss. He ended up shaving his head because I read that you would need to shave it in order to get the suction to properly work on the scalp. The doctor points on the areas that are thinning and show us the place he plans on putting the suction cups. After placing the cups for a few minutes, the doctor removes them and creates multiple slits on the areas to draw blood on both temples and the crown. You can see the blood accumulating and coagulating inside the cup as it is turned into a jelly-like substance. It’s pretty gruesome but he doesn’t seem to be in any discomfort or pain during this whole process.

There have been claims that people who have received Hijama therapy regrew hair so I wanted to research and see if it really worked for hair loss. I was unable to find any scientific studies on its efficacy so it looks like it is not scientifically proven to regrow hair. It may help with blood circulation and like micro-needling, perhaps the incisions made on the scalp may induce wound healing and growth stem cells and create new blood vessels in the tissue, but there’s no study on this so I can’t really say if it will work for hair loss or not. It does seem a bit barbaric, especially withdrawing all of the blood. If you’ve done this, let me know how it went and if you have experienced any gains in hair.

As far as prices, Hijama therapy seems to cost between $40-$80 USD per session in the US, and in India, prices range anywhere from 500 to 2500 rupees, which is between $10-$35 USD but also depends on the number of cups used and the areas treated.
